Corona Virus and Real Estate
Who hasn’t heard of the Corona virus / Covid-19 by now and what’s going on in the world. But even that dark cloud is producing a silver lining of sorts for home buyers. It’s also presented a new and unique challenge on how we will conduct business as real estate agents, buyers and sellers. The Corona virus / Covid-19 is not just a health issues and global pandemic, it also affects our economy, including the housing market. It’s amazing how much our world has changed and how what happens in one part of the world can affect our local economy. In 2003, the SARS epidemic hurt the Chinese economy. The…
Licensed Vs. Unlicensed Contractor
Should you hire a licensed or unlicensed contractor to make changes to your home? It seems every week, I am reading on our local social media groups about someone who hired a contractor and it ended badly. Many report they gave 50 percent or more down-payment to the contractor to start the work. Then it goes downhill from there. From a contractor starting the work and never coming back to finish….Or them not showing up at all once they got the money! It pays to understand that a contractor’s main purpose is to coordinate and orchestrate a group of tradesmen/women hired to actually do the work. The issue really is…
Questions For Your Home Builder
Choosing your home builder can make or break your home construction experience. You’ve purchased your plot of land, got your home plans and you have narrowed down your list of potential home builders….now what? If you have been searching for a home in the past year you know that housing supply is at an all-time low! Whether you are a buyer or a seller, this impacts you in a few ways. Realtor.com states that the current housing supply has dropped over 13% since January. This is the steepest year over year decline in the housing inventory in over four years; and reflects the lowest housing supply since 2012. In Florida, four cities were tracked and showed a decline in housing inventory of between 10 and 20%. The bad news for home buyers is that there appears to be no signs that the housing supply…

Bug bites are annoying and some can be dangerous. And, let’s face it, no matter how clean your home is, you will at some point get bitten by an ant, mosquito or other pest. Though most people know about using ice to numb the skin and reduce inflammation, it doesn’t seem to work for me. Essential Oils. Lavender oil relieves pain from spider bites and bee stings. Mint oil has cooling properties and may help keep insects away. Essential oils extremely useful for painful fire ant bites. You should not apply essential oils directly to the skin; instead mix them into sprays or balms. Aloe vera gel helps to sooth…
First-Time Homebuyer Mistakes
Let’s face it, we all make mistakes, but first time homebuyer mistakes can be costly. Thankfully, my first home was new construction, so many of the first time homebuyer mistakes can be avoided. Buying your first home can me made easier by hiring a professional real estate agent to help you with not only your home search, but with helping avoid mis-steps. There is nothing worse for a home buyer than buyers remorse, which we discussed in our July 2019 podcast. Right now with such a shortage of good housing inventory, first-time homebuyers need to be prepared BEFORE you go out looking at homes. Remember that old saying about “putting…
